About Screw Piers
A screw pier – also called a helical pier, helical pile or screw pile – is a steel foundation element with spiral plates (helices) that is mechanically screwed into the ground. It provides a strong, stable base for structures without the need for excavation or concrete.
Screw piers are engineered to handle a wide range of loads, from light residential structures through to heavy commercial and civil applications. The specific pier type, diameter, and configuration are selected based on your project’s load requirements, which we determine from your plans.
The piers we install are Australian-made from quality steel. When correctly specified and installed, they are designed to last the life of the structure. They are not affected by the curing or cracking issues that can affect concrete over time.
Yes. The installation process produces no spoil, requires no concrete, and uses no chemical additives. They’re one of the lowest-impact foundation methods available and can even be removed and relocated if needed.
Installation
Most residential installations are completed within a single day. Larger commercial or civil projects may take longer, and we’ll give you a realistic timeframe as part of your quote.
Far less disruptive than traditional methods. There’s no large-scale excavation, no concrete pours, and no mess left behind. Our equipment is compact and our process is efficient. You can expect your site to stay clean and your neighbours to stay happy.
They work in a wide range of soil conditions, including the reactive clay and sandy loam soils common across SEQ. There are some extreme conditions – such as very shallow rock – where alternative solutions may be needed. We’ll assess your soil profile from your plans and advise you accordingly.
Yes. One of the advantages of screw pier installation is that it requires smaller, more manoeuvrable equipment than traditional excavation methods. Access constraints can often be accommodated – just note them when you upload your plans.
Yes, in most cases screw piers can be removed and relocated. This makes them a practical option for temporary structures or projects where conditions might change.
